Bio
Tipuna, also known as Mahri-Nui's lost Turaga. Tipuna was the Turaga of the coastal village of Vuya-Nui-the village that later became Mahri-Nui when it broke off and sank to the ocean floor. However, she was away in a Turaga counsel meeting when the disaster struck. The loss of her village and Matoran was devastating and left her incredibly traumatize. Other Matoran and Turaga had to put Tipuna in "protective custody" to keep her from diving down to The pit, which would have resulted in her being mutated. After many years of being kept on Voya-Nui, The other Turaga sent her to the northern Continent to reside there. She then re-assumed her responsibilities as a Turaga there.
Tipuna is a Strong-willed and resilient Ga-Turaga. Having faced terrible hardships and living on made her so. This also makes her what some Matoran view as "insane." Tipuna has been known to face excessive dangers without so much as batting an eye, like crossing the Tren-Krom Peninsula by herself, only armed with her staff. She's also been known to kill dangerous Rahi that attacks her village, rending the need for a toa almost non-existent. While a Turaga, she displays more characteristics of a Toa.
- Updating her photo set(that Mirrors Aumangea's.
- Tipuna no longer has her turaga robe thing made of corrugated tubing. It was kind of a fail and made her too bulky.
- Updated information.
About the MOC
"Tipuna" is a Maori word.
Maori is the language Lego used for many of the names of early bionicle characters, some taken directly from a meaning. In the spirit of classic bionicle, I chose to use Maori for her and Aumangea's name(Aumangea means Be strong, persistent, brave, resilient, etc).
(noun) ancestor, grandparent, grandfather, grandmother - eastern dialect variation of tupuna

This is beautiful design for a turaga, its nice to see the combination of both system, technic and bionicle ALL at the same time.
the minifigures make great hands too. one that i kind off dont like is the use of the kaukau nuva mask but that is forgivable because we dont know what a kaukau nolbe looks like. the design and build 'flows' really good.
also gotta love the assymetry in the shoulders. it was also surprising that it can fit in a vehicle as seen in the sixth image.
as a conclusion this is truly a beautiful MOC
